“Steven Universe” season 6’s lack of information is making fans confused. This is because rather than showing a teaser for the upcoming installment, the fifth season finale showed a preview of the “Steven Universe: The Movie” instead.
With that strategy, fans wonder if “Steven Universe” season 6 has been scrapped and the “Steven Universe: The Movie” will serve as sort of replacement. Thus, when it premieres fans think it could be the end of the Rebecca Sugar animation on television.
But as EconoTimes noted, Rebecca Sugar already hinted that “Steven Universe” season 6 is coming. In fact, along with former the executive producer, Ian Jones-Quartey, they said that the next season would offer the viewers something different. They also revealed that series will go on by saying, "There is going to be more, but it's going to be different and it's going to be something new so there is a lot more to do."
Then again, the thing that will assure fans that “Steven Universe” season 6 is really coming is an official announcement for the show’s renewal. While Rebecca Sugar and Jones-Quartey already said that there will be more stories after season 5, the sixth installment is not yet renewed and there is no news if its production has started either.
One thing is sure, “Steven Universe: The Movie” is a separate production and will not be shown in place of “Steven Universe” season 6. The series will be back on TV and the viewers should wait for it.
In an article published by Den of Geek, Rebecca Sugar relayed that the viewers will see a more grown-up Steven. He has matured through his experience and will not allow others to influence his life’s choices anymore. The show creator said that Steven in “Steven Universe” season 6 realized that “he doesn't have to be what other people want or expect him to be” and this suggests that the protagonist will lead a kind of life that makes him happy from now on.
The airdate for “Steven Universe” season 6 is not yet available but the best bet is that it will be released once “Steven Universe: The Movie” hits the theaters.
