“Stranger Things” season 4 has been renewed in September, just two months after Netflix dropped all eight episodes in July 2019. The renewal announcement was very much anticipated by the viewers, so when it finally came, people flocked to YouTube to watch the clip.
The video teaser immediately gained millions of views, proving the popularity of the series. Aside from letting the fan know that “Stranger Things” season 4 is coming, Netflix also added a bit more details to excite the fans further.
Based on the short clip, “Stranger Things” season 4 will have a different setting. They “will not be in Hawkins anymore,” as the trailer stated. Eagle-eyed fans also pointed out that the background also featured Hopper’s home, but it is not clear what this could mean. Perhaps, he is still alive?
Hopper - Where is he?
Yes, many fans are convinced that Hopper did not die when the machine that sealed the opening to the Upside Down exploded. They theorized the sheriff’s body did not disintegrate at that moment; rather, he was transported to another place, which they guess is in Russia.
Their theory seems to make sense after it was revealed that “Stranger Things” season 4 is currently being shot in Lithuania, a place where most movies that needed a location that looks like Chernobyl are filmed. Additionally, they said that there could be a Russian lab as well, and it is similar to the ones in Hawkins.
Screen Rant notes that if there is really a lab there, then Russian subjects exist as well. With that said, it is likely that Eleven and the others will meet foreign kids like them, but it is not certain if this is bad or a good thing.
More spoilers
Fans can expect flashbacks in “Stranger Things” season 4, and this was confirmed by the series’ co-creator Ross Duffer. Plot twists will also happen because the writers and producers have not yet made up their minds as to what direction they would take.
“We don’t know a lot, but we do know a lot of the big broad strokes,” Duffer told Entertainment Weekly. “At the end of season two, we knew about Billy. We knew that the Russians were going to come in.”
“Stranger Things” season 4 is predicted to arrive in early 2021.
