‘Supergirl’ season 3 may feature the introduction of DC’s ‘Legion of Super-Heroes.’ Actress Melissa Benoist subtly teased the possibility during a new interview. Meanwhile, it was speculated that the new villain for season 3 may have been introduced in the season 2 finale.
According to TVLine, Benoist was asked whether the Legion Ring shows in a Kevin Smith-directed episode would somehow make it on the highly anticipated third season of ‘Supergirl.’ The 28-year old actress teased, “The Legion Ring, I believe, is on its way — but I don’t know exactly when.”
The Legion Ring was shown in season 1’s episode, titled “Fortress.” The scene where the Easter egg was picked up was when Kara went to visit Superman’s Fortress of Solitude.
It remains unknown whether the Legion of Super-Heroes would really be appearing on the series, since it is unclear whether The CW would cover material that far ahead in the DC extended universe.
The Legion of Super-Heroes is a 30th century intergalactic team of young superheroes founded by Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, and Saturn Girl after being inspired by the legend of Superboy. The Legion was first created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino. According to Screen Rant, there is no way of knowing the Legion’s role in the series at this point.
Meanwhile, season 2’s finale episode may have hinted at the show’s next big villain. According to CBR.com, the episode’s final moments featured a flashback of baby Kal and teenage Kara. It turned out that they weren’t alone since a third Kryptonian pod contained an unseen infant-sized creature cared for by a group of “Dark Kryptonians.”
It was then predicted that this third creature would eventually mature and “reign.” It seems that the closing credits subtly introduced viewers to a new and menacing villain for the upcoming third season of the superhero action-adventure drama television series based on the DC comic book character of the same name.
‘Supergirl’ was renewed for season 3 last January 2017. It is expected to return on The CW sometime in the fall of 2017.
