Lucky fans who attended SDCC 2019 last week have already seen the highly anticipated animated crossover movie “Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans.” Others will have to wait for a little over two months for its digital release and until October for those who want to watch through Blu-Ray and DVD.
‘Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans release date
Warner Bros. and DC Universe went all out with their SDCC 2019 program. They maximized the event to hold special screenings of various titles including "Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans." But fans who were not able to attend the convention will not have to wait long before they could see the entire film.
Since the movie was officially announced and up to the launch of its first official trailer, release date information was always limited to 2019. But since the movie’s SDCC 2019 screening, specific dates for the release of "Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans" were finally revealed. Fans should remember that this is a direct-to-video production, which means there will not be any theatrical release. Instead, the movie can be purchased digitally starting on Sept. 24. Blu-Ray/DVD physical media copies will arrive in stores on Oct. 15.
‘Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans’ plot: What to expect
“Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans” will bring together the band of animated DC Comics superheroes from the 20013 and 2013 versions of the series. However, their meeting will not be a friendly one. The groups were brought together to battle their version from another multiverse. It seems like a play on the never-ending debate on which version of the series is better.
However, the mix up in the multiverse space and timeline have also brought the 2003 and 2013 versions of the DC superheroes’ enemies. But the most important among the villains is Trigon who is spotted in the teaser trailer. During the SDCC panel, writer Marly Halpern-Graser revealed that the idea for this epic mash-up actually came from Warner Bros. and setting up the crossover plot needed to have something to link the heroes smoothly. Trigon happens to be that link.
Just like how fans bicker over which is better between “Teen Titans Go!” and "Teen Titans,” the 2003 and 2013 heroes are also going to have a hard time to unite. The heroes would certainly be forced to set their differences aside, but most have yet to see whether this rivalry will ever be resolved.
