Many fans have been asking for the original Teen Titans to return on screen and Warner Bros. had a different approach in adhering to those demands. Instead of ultimately, replacing the 2013 version of the animated superheroes to bring back their 2003 counterparts, the studio came up with now-highly anticipated crossover movie “Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans.”
‘Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans’ plot: What to expect
The way the 2003 and 2013 Teen Titans are coming together is not conventional, nor it is a friendly type of reunion. As shown in the trailer, the two groups of beloved superheroes are summoned by a character who plans to pit them against one another. That explains the movie’s title, “Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans.”
However, by messing with the multiverse, the organizer of the showdown may have inadvertently gathered two versions of notable villains that the Teen Titans have faced over the years. Fans will see a 2003 and 2013 versions of Trigon interrupting the supposed match in an arena to declare that several antagonists have also come together to destroy the multiverse in “Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans.”
At one point in the trailer (see photo above), it can also be noticed that Raven and OG Raven (both voiced by Tara Strong) are missing, suggesting that one of the villains may have taken them as prisoners. With the multiverse in grave danger and one of their teammates at the hands of the enemies, the “Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans” will end up revolving around the partnership of the Teen Titans Go and OG Teen Titans.
‘Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans’ release date: SDCC screening, direct-to-video release
Warner Bros. has several direct-to-video projects under the animated DC universe, and that includes “Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans.” That means the movie will not be released in movie theaters and can only be watched by purchasing it digitally or getting its Blu-Ray copy.
“Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans” is certainly going to be released this year, though, the specific date is still unknown. But since Warner Bros. will screen the movie at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019 on Sunday, July 21 there is a big chance that its actual release date will also be announced at the same venue.
