Until now, it’s still unclear whether or not “Teen Titans” Season 6 is happening due to Warner Brothers being reticent about the series. The speculation first exploded when “Teen Titans: Go to the Movies” hinted at this fact at its end credit scene, Business Times reported.
Following that, fans of the original series were quick to point out that WB might be planning at producing “Teen Titans” Season 6, picking up from the cliffhanger that occurred in the fifth installment. However, as of this writing, nothing substantial has been provided to the fans and details about the series’ potential return remains muddy.
The only information that is known at the moment is that the creators of “Teen Titans: Go” will not be involved in the supposed creation of “Teen Titans” Season 6. What’s more, it seems that WB is not working on a series but is instead trying to create a crossover movie involving the goofy characters of “Teen Titans: Go.”
Interestingly enough, this detail is in direct opposition to the tweet of voice actress Tara Strong. Strong previously hinted that “Teen Titans” Season 6 will indeed be happening if “Teen Titans: Go to the Movies” performs well at the box office, Cinema Blend reported. In short, nobody really knows what’s going on, with information from inside sources seemingly colliding with each other.
So why was the original show canceled in the first place? There’s no definitive answer to that either, although it’s been speculated that it wasn’t due to poor ratings. Instead, “Teen Titans” Season 6 wasn’t made due to Cartoon Network wanting its audience to fall in the younger category. Since the series has been running for years, its young demographic grew with it.
Thus Cartoon Network decided to ax “Teen Titans” Season 6 and replaced it with “Teen Titans: Go,” a simplified version of the show with plotlines geared towards younger audiences. Naturally, fans of the original series were pissed at Cartoon Network’s decision.
And they were doubly angry when they found out that “Teen Titans” Season 6 will not be a series but a one-time deal that will supposedly run for about 60 to 70 minutes. Of course, since WB itself hasn’t announced anything, it’s best to put the pitchforks down and hold off any hope for the series returning. Hopefully, the higher ups see the potential of “Teen Titans” and decide to breathe new life to the series in the future. As for its potential release, this series or crossover is speculated to drop late in 2019 or early 2020.
