After fetching $244,000 at auction, a Tesla Cybertruck is back on the market through a Florida dealership, listed at $289,999, challenging Tesla's no-resale policy.
Tesla Cybertruck Resale Flourishes Despite Tesla's Policy, Fetching $244,000 at Auction
Tesla's no-resale policy notwithstanding, Porsche South Orlando acquired the Cybertruck last week for $244,000 at the Manheim Auction. The automobile, which was previously listed on the dealership's website for $289,999, is now being resold, as per Teslarati. Its VIN corresponds to the Cybertruck that was sold a few days ago at a Manheim auction.
Both this iteration and the Cyberbeast are available in restricted quantities as Tesla further increases production. It features dual motors and all-wheel drive.
Volkswagen and Porsche, the parent company, have not provided Teslarati with a response to its inquiries for comment as of this writing.
Tesla's No-Resale Clause Faces Test With Cybertruck's Rapid Resale Chain
Tesla Cybertruck purchasers are required to refrain from selling the vehicle within the initial year following its delivery, as stipulated in the original seller agreement with Tesla. Failure to do so may result in a penalty equal to "$50,000 or the value received as consideration for the sale or transfer, whichever is greater."
It remains uncertain whether Tesla will have the ability to enforce the regulation, given that this Cybertruck has been involved in a succession of transactions since its initial delivery, notwithstanding the agreement. Others speculate that the automaker could take additional measures to enforce the policy, despite its statement that it reserves the right to deny violators future access to Tesla vehicles.
Tesla Cybertruck Delivery Timelines Extend, With Few Owners Taking Early Delivery
As many reservation holders await their own deliveries of the vehicle, the Tesla Cybertruck is presently available in limited quantities. Twelve to eighteen months are anticipated to pass between the initial deliveries of the Cybertruck and volume production, according to Tesla, which manufactures the vehicle at its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
Reservation holders with sufficient referral credits can bypass the line and obtain their Cybertruck units earlier. Despite this, only a small number of owners have been able to obtain their units in the months following the late November delivery event.
