The Korea Fair Trade Commission has ordered the local unit of Tesla Motors Inc. to revise contract terms that violated a law protecting consumers' rights.
One such term was for Tesla Korea to return 100,000 won in commission fees if a vehicle was damaged during delivery.
Customers had filed a complaint with the commission against such unfair terms that are against the law.
Tesla Korea sold 7,079 vehicles in the first half, a sharp increase from 422 in the same period of last year.
Helped by higher demand for its Model 3, Tesla delivered a record high number of 2,827 vehicles in June, way higher than the 121 from the same month last year.
But Tesla just ranked fourth in sales in that month, trailing Mercedes-Benz with 7,672 units, BMW's 4,069, and Audi's 3,401.
