Tesla rolled out the new version of its Model Y electric car in China on Sunday, Oct. 1. It is new because of the upgrade that made minor changes to the EV's interior and exterior parts.
As per Reuters, Tesla's overhauled Model 3 electric car will offer a longer driving range. It was added that these EVs were manufactured at the EV maker's production plant in Shanghai. Another very noticeable change made through the upgrade is the new wheel design.
The Revamped Model Y Price
Although Tesla upgraded its Model Y by adding new features and making it more stylish, it was revealed that the company did not increase its selling price in China. Its starting price in the region is 263,900 yuan or about $36,146, which will be intact despite the improvements.
The Verge reported that the price for the long-range version remained at 299,900 yuan or $42,000, while the high-performance unit is selling at 349,900 yuan or around $49,000.
Tesla announced the release of its overhauled Model Y in China via WeChat social media. The announcement comes after the company unveiled its revamped "Highland" Model 3, which will be launched in Europe early last month.
Features to Expect in the Upgraded Model Y
Tesla's entry-level Tesla Model Y previously ran at 0-62 miles per hour, timed at 6.9 seconds, while it can now run at 5.9 seconds, which means it is quicker now. There are also changes in battery output and software.
For the interior, the Tesla Model Y has an RGB ambient light on the dash. The dashboard is also made with new textile material, which replaced the wood trim. Meanwhile, owners of this EV brand may expect a more notable, bigger update at some point next year.
