Tesla will open its first store in the Philippines on Nov. 9, expanding its presence in Southeast Asia with a location in Manila's Uptown Bonifacio. The store’s debut marks Tesla's latest effort to boost electric vehicle adoption in the country, alongside offerings like the Powerwall home battery.
Tesla Launch in the Philippines Promises Boost for EV Adoption and Sustainability Efforts
Following reports earlier this year that the business was beginning construction on the site close to the nation's capital city, a strategic move to tap into the country's economic hub, Tesla has now set an official opening date for its first store in the Philippines.
The business has recently revealed plans to host a media opening for the facility on November 8 after sightings of the under-construction Tesla storefront in the Manila metropolitan region in September (via Top Gear). The store will open to the public on November 9 in Taguig's Uptown Bonifacio retail mall. However, Tesla has yet to comment on which cars will be available, with the possibility of the latest models like the Model 3 and Model Y and other items such as the Powerwall home battery.
Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) and other items, including the Powerwall home battery, will begin in the nation with the launch. This move will significantly impact the local automotive industry, potentially paving the way for a more sustainable and eco-friendly future. When Tesla started hiring in Taguig in September for sales, service, finance, charging, operations, and human resources jobs, it also showed that it would begin selling nationwide.
Although it is expected to appear around the store's debut, Tesla's Philippines store has yet to be included on its Find Us page.
Tesla Expands Southeast Asia Footprint as Philippine Store Joins Growing Regional Presence
In recent years, Tesla has expanded into several Southeast Asian regions and begun selling its electric vehicles and energy supplies in several Asia-Pacific nations. Although other neighboring countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, and Vietnam, are still waiting for the company's products, Tesla has begun sales in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan in recent years, in addition to the Philippines.
Although Elon Musk has yet to launch an electric vehicle and energy company in the Philippines, SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service was approved in 2022 and debuted in 2023.
