“That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime” is one of the newer light novel-turned-anime series released in the recent years. But it immediately rose to popularity gaining the attention of fans in various countries. As a result, the production of season 2 was immediately confirmed.
The anime series, which premiered in October 2018, is based on the same title light novel written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. The first season had a total of 25 installments but the actual plot concluded in the 23rd episode that aired in the first half of March. And within less than a week, the official social media page for “That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime” confirmed that season 2 is in the making.

If there is one slight letdown about this news, it is the fact that fans will have to wait until 2020 to see “That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime” season 2. It is still hard to predict the possible release date window since there is not much reference for the anime series. But if the announcement also means that production has started, the best fans can hope for is for it to premiere within a year or in the fall of 2020.
The producers and its original network in Japan, Tokyo MX, might also want to avoid too much hiatus before releasing “That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime” season 2. Considering that it is a fairly new title in the anime series industry, these companies might want to maximize the show's popularity. It would be best to maintain the show's momentum by ending the hiatus as soon as possible.
To fans new to “That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime,” the title pretty much sums up the main plot. The story peaks after a man in his late 30s named Satoru Mikami suffered a tragic death from a robber on the street. But his monotonous life was turned around by this untimely death, too, as he got reincarnated into a slime named Rimuru Tempest with a much more exciting life.
