The choir congregated at the Scientology Information Center; members of the community chimed in as the choir sang their first few songs. They then caroled down Cleveland Street getting the attention of everyone along the way. Along their way passersby requested them to stop from time to time to have them sing with them.
The crowd following the performers continued to grow until they arrived at Gala’s Gelateria which was holding their grand re-opening. The choir, with audience in tow, filled the shop and overflowed onto the sidewalk outside, surprising the new owner, Patrizia Mura. Ms. Mura did not expect to be overwhelmed with business, and passed out samples to her guests.
“Our Church of Scientology Choir had a great time adding to the spirit of the season while helping to welcome a new business owner celebrate their grand opening day. It was great to see the lines of people who followed us in while we performed,” said Linda Ferguson, the Choir Executive Director.
After the performance the choir returned to the Scientology Information Center, their regular performance venue, where several carolers joined them to continue singing.
“It’s really inspiring that they just did the performance like that for Downtown. It really shows the spirit of Christmas and embodies what Scientology’s founder, L. Ron Hubbard once said, ‘A community that pulls together can make a better society for all,’” said Amber Skjelset, Information Center Manager.
The Scientology Information Center is open to the community from 10 am to 10 pm daily and hosts regular community events. For more information call 727-467-6966 or e-mail [email protected].
