It is understandable if some anime fans had thought “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was no longer happening. The first series installment debuted and concluded in 2014, but the second season was not confirmed until last fall.
‘The Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 release date
There were more than five years of silence about the series, and the doubts about its continuation only grew when the anime movie “The Girl Who Calls the Stars” premiered in 2017. However, people behind the anime adaptation came with a huge surprise last year when it announced “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2.
Even series creator Tsutomu Sato admitted he was surprised when “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was announced. Like his fans, he though the 2017 anime film would be the last of the series in animated form. “I was also surprised when I heard it for the first time,” Sato said (via Crunchyroll). “I had thought that 'The Girl Who Calls the Stars' film was the last one in The Irregular at Magic High School's anime adaptation project.”
Producers have not given any official answer to why it took half a decade for “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 to be announced. But there have been speculations that the making of the movie may have affected the series’ timeline. Regardless of the reasons for the delay, the good news now is the second season is confirmed and has already been given a release date window.
“The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is confirmed to join the summer anime lineup. It will air sometime in July, the exact premiere date could only be announced once its a month to a few weeks close.
