The more than half-decade of waiting for “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is now down to just a few months. As anime-only fans look forward to the new episodes, they might want to take the advice of series creator Tsutomu Sato on what themes to expect from the next story arc to be tackled in the anime adaptation.
‘The Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 spoilers: What to expect from Visitor Arc
When “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was announced, it was later confirmed that it will be based on the Visitor Arc. Fans will find Tatsuya Shiba and his matter detonation to be once again subjects of interest of major institutions, specifically the United States of North America.
Tatsuya’s matter detonation will be suspected as what’s causing a problem to USNA’s black hole experiment making their soldiers defect and acquire out-of-this-world abilities. “Visitor Arc includes strong occult elements,” Sato told Crunchyroll while comparing the upcoming storyline in to the arcs covered in season 1. “The highlight of 'Visitor Arc' is not a big destruction like the one happened in 'Yokohama Disturbance Arc,' but the team play supported by friendship (a part of it is love)."
In the volume list of the light novel series, Visitor Arc precedes the Recollection Arc. It meant that “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will not include an entire story arc. The Recollection Arc, however, revolves mostly around backstories that happened three years in the past. This suggests that skipping this part will not cause any major disruptions in the canon anime story.
‘The Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 release date and episode count possibilities
The other interesting aspect of the announcement that “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will only cover Visitor Arc is that it has much fewer source materials involved. That means the highly anticipated series renewal will have a shorter run, possibly having around 12 to 13 episodes only.
The first sneak peek to the events in “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 has yet to be revealed. This is not surprising since season 2 is not slated to premiere until July.
