Based on the trailers released so far, The Last Of Us Part 2 (TLOU 2) is going to feature some gruesome themes and scenes. Fans might say that this is fitting of the grim post-apocalyptic world, but it could get a lot more harrowing than many might expect. According to the game’s director, the deaths of the two main characters Joel and Ellie are not impossible. The title is also confirmed to make an appearance on next year’s E3.
During the recent PlayStation Experience event, a lot of details about the game have been hinted at, though the guests did a great job revealing as little as possible. The panel for TLOU 2 was also opened by a duet featuring Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker singing “Wayfaring Stranger” as their characters, Ellie and Joel, Comicbook.com reports.
Touching as the performance was, the rest of the event was not as fruitful as fans might have hoped, with writer Neil Druckmann dodging questions from the interviewer with max agility. However, there were a few things about the game that Druckmann was willing to divulge, including the setting.
As many internet sleuths have already figured out, it seems TLOU 2 will be set in Seattle. This was a conclusion that they came to after putting together clues from the trailers that were released.
“A large part of the game takes place in Seattle, which Reddit detectives have already figured out,” Druckmann said during the panel.
Speaking of the fans, many have commented that the trailers are unmistakably darker than the first game, which has them worried about the fates of the main characters. Druckmann added to their anxiety by saying that absolutely no one is safe in the game, Gamespot reports.
"There are stakes--there are real stakes," he said during the event. "With The Last of Us, no one is safe. We want people to go into The Last of Us: Part II, especially with this theme [of hate] and what we're trying to say with this game, is knowing that no one is safe--not even these two [Joel and Ellie]."
