“The Last of Us Part 2” is perhaps one of the most anticipated triple-A titles coming out this year, rivaled only by CD Projekt Red’s “Cyberpunk 2077.” This isn’t surprising given that its predecessor managed to accumulate a massive following after its release.
The story of Ellie and Joel is arguably one of the most gripping plotlines that a game has ever told, filled with heart-racing tensions and tear-jerking moments in between. Both these characters will take center stage once again in “The Last of Us Part 2,” although it’s unclear whether or not Joel will be a playable character. In fact, little information about the sequel is being offered by Naughty Dog at the moment with the exception of game director Neil Druckmann’s previous statement, WCCFTech reported.
“From the way Ellie plays to the way she navigates through this hostile world, you’re going to feel her physical, emotional, and mental state expressed through every facet of gameplay. We’ve completely overhauled our engine, developed new combat mechanics, created a new analog stealth system, and revamped our animation system to fully express Ellie’s desperation, resourcefulness, and unique agility,” Druckmann revealed. The game director added that players should ready themselves for a tougher time in defeating baddies in “The Last of Us Part 2.”
He said that they’ve outfitted the game with an AI that can provide difficult challenges for players as it’s capable of using complex communication and make use of any given terrain. As for the release date of “The Last of Us Part 2,” nothing has been confirmed by the studio so far.
However, the community is expecting it to come out sometime in the third or fourth quarter of 2019 as Sony may be looking to squeeze the remaining life cycle of the PS4. There’s also the release date of “Days Gone” to consider. Through the business lens, Sony would want to space both of their game as much as they can to increase the chances of them earning positive sales performance, Daily Star reported. Hopefully, the company won’t decide to extend the release date of “The Last of Us Part 2” to early 2020 although the possibility is still on the table.
