Fans eagerly waiting for the release of “The Last of Us Part II” have been getting bits of updates for the past couple of years. But a definitive launch schedule is still elusive. Recently, a person attached to the making of the first and sequel game suggested that the wait will be over “soon.”
Despite the absence of updates on “The Last of Us Part II’s” launch schedule from its developer Naughty Dog, speculations still persist suggesting the game could be out by late 2019 or early 2020. This rumor was further stirred up by composer Gustavo Santaolalla.
In his recent live concert, briefly talked about “The Last of Us Part II.” He did not mention any specific details but he did say that it will “be coming very soon.” The video of his stage performance has since gone viral on Reddit.
However, as DualShockers pointed out, the phrase “coming soon” could have various meanings in the gaming world. In terms of the release date of “The Last of Us Part II,” “coming soon” could mean it will be out later this year, in 2020, or even the year after that.
It might also be important to note that the first title was unveiled in 2011 and officially launched in 2013. If Naughty Dog would maintain the same development time frame for “The Last of Us Part II,” expecting it to come out in early 2020 does not seem too far-fetched.
Aside from the release date, there are other details about “The Last of Us Part II” that still need clarifications. It was made clear in several official teasers that Ellie becomes a main playable character as she also becomes the center of the plot.
That leads fans to question Joel’s fate. His absence from the official trailers of “The Last of Us Part II” has sparked rumors that he might be dying in the plot or that the players might have the option to play as either Ellie or Joel.
