The season 3 finale for “The Originals” is almost here, and with it comes the return of Claire Holt who plays Rebekah Mikaelson in the show. Rebekah has been gone from the series for a long time but it seems that the coming trial of her brother Klaus, which is presided over by her former lover Marcel, has prompted her to return.
The final episode of the series is convoluted to say the least, but the main points revolve around a certain prophecy, Marcel feeling that he was betrayed by the Mikaelsons and Marcel drinking a potion that turned him into the beast that said prophecy referred to. All of these factors led to Klaus being put on trial in front of a crowd of vampires by a juiced-up Marcel, the return of Rebekah who volunteers to speak for her brother and the potential self-fulfillment of the prophecy.
Since the beginning of season 3 of “The Originals,” a central focus point is the prophecy that was made in episode one. Supposedly, three originals will be killed during the season, “one by friend, one by foe, and one by family” as it goes. Freya and Elijah saw Marcel killing Klaus with Elijah present, along with a casket that appears to be for Rebekah.
As for why Marcel has become determined to judge Klaus and serve what he considers as justice, everything began with the siblings allowing Divina to die. This is the turning point for Marcel and why he chose to go down the path that the season finale will show.
A video preview of the show also hints that Elijah is in serious trouble after getting bitten, while Marcel tries to convince Rebekah to turn against Klaus; based on the video, it seems she refused. “The Originals” season 3 finale will air on May 20 on the CW Network.
