"The Vampire Chronicles" is one of Anne Rice’s most popular works. It is a series of novels that tell the story of Lestat de Lioncourt, a fictional character who became a vampire in the 18th century. Now, his story is going to be relived after Hulu signed a deal with the author for its TV adaptation.
It was divulged that the negotiation to bring “The Vampire Chronicles” to broadcast has been going on for two years, and when the deal was settled, Anne Rice just could not contain her excitement. It is finally happening and she wants her fans to know.
Two years ago, Anne rice revealed that it was the fans who pushed her to bring her work to television. In her long social media post, she wrote, “Over the years you all have told me how much you want to see a Game of Thrones-style, faithful rendering of this material, well, I have heard you.”
She added, “What you want is what I want… In this, the new golden age of television, such a series is the way to let the entire story of the vampires unfold.”
Now, it was Christopher Rice, Anne’s son, who confirmed that “The Vampire Chronicles” has landed on Hulu. Through his mother’s official FB page, he simply wrote, "THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES is coming in for a landing at Hulu, the Emmy-winning broadcaster that brought us one of the most seminal literary TV adaptation of our time, The Handmaid's Tale.”
He further said that fans should watch out for announcements as there will surely be more in the coming days as they prepare for “The Vampire Chronicles'” debut on Hulu.
In any case, it was The Hollywood Reporter that first broke the news about Hulu grabbing the rights to publish “The Vampire Chronicles” on its streaming site. The publication also noted that Anne Rice will be the executive producer while her son, Christopher, would serve as the showrunner and main writer.
“The Vampire Chronicles” release date is not yet available. There is still no word from the Anne Rice or Hulu but fans are hoping that the wait will not be too long.
