‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8’s episode 8, titled “We Have History Together,” is set to follow Stefan serving Cade with his brother Damon. Meanwhile, Ian Somerhalder talked about directing the episode during a recent interview.
The synopsis for “We Have History Together” posted on Vampirediaries.com reads, “Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) attend an anger management support group looking for their next victim.
“Sybil (guest star Nathalie Kelley) is still alive and teaching a group of high school students who she’ll later use as leverage to get Caroline (Candice King) to locate a historical artifact that can be used against her. Meanwhile, Stefan and Damon continue their commitment to Cade as they test the morals of a young doctor, Tara (guest star Alexandra Chando).
The preceding episode titled, "The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, It Could Be You," saw Stefan strike a deal with the devil. He would serve him as long as he has his humanity turned off. Stefan knew he needed this to deliver more souls to Cade and serve him for only a year instead of for eternity.
It seems that the devil now has two loyal servants in the Salvatore brothers. The two are set to prowl an anger management group for a potential victim as well as challenge a young doctor’s morals on their hunt for dark souls.
Somerhalder, who portrays Damon, revealed what it was like to direct the episode during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He said, “I really had a blast getting to see sides of the boys in a very season 1-like way… The episode] was about Stefan and Damon. It was about Matt [Zach Roerig] and Peter [Joel Gretsch], his dad. It was about relationships and the complexity and simplicity of literally people and just a camera.”
The 38-year old actor also teased, “Stefan is taking the role that you would’ve typically seen Damon in… Damon is finding his compassion, and he’s trying hard to battle the darkness inside of him.”
‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8’s episode 8, titled “We Have History Together,” is scheduled to air on The CW on January 13, 2017. It was directed by Ian Somerhalder and written by Matthew D'Ambrosio. It will be followed by episode 9, titled "The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch," scheduled for January 20.
