‘The Walking Dead’ season 7B is set to feature a major character coming out as a homosexual. The second-half of the season will kick off the promise of war between Hilltop and the Saviors.
According to Cleveland.com, another core character’s sexuality is yet to be revealed on ‘The Walking Dead’ when season 6’s second half returns on AMC with episode 9, titled “Rock in the Road.” Homosexuality is not a new thing on the series, considering that some characters - including Denise (Merritt Wever) and Tara (Alanna Masterson) - have already been portrayed as such on the small screen.
It seems that another character will come out as gay in the upcoming episodes. Jesus, portrayed by Tom Payne, will reportedly reveal his true sexuality sometime in the series. Paul Rovia a.k.a. Jesus is a zombie outbreak survivor and recruiter for the Hilltop Colony.
He is known to be friendly, charming, and smart and has proven his skill in hand-to-hand combat. He was first introduced into the television adaptation in season 6’s episode 10, titled “The Next World,” and is set to appear in season 7’s episode 9. Jesus is expected to take on a more important role as the series moves forward.
In the original comic books of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard, Jesus develops a romantic relationship with a character named Alex. Alex had a boyfriend named Wes and Jesus didn’t want to get in their way despite sharing a kiss so the two remained good friends.
Meanwhile, showrunner Scott M. Gimple confirmed that the next half of season 7 will be totally different from the previous half. According to Entertainment Weekly, Gimple teased, “It propels us into a very different half season from the one before it… Before the end of that very first episode back, you will see Rick Grimes smile.”
Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his allies are set to take on Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his notorious band of Saviors in revenge for their atrocities. It was revealed that Rick will finally come out of his brokenness to return to his old self.
Gimple revealed, “The midseason premiere is a movie unto itself… Angela Kang wrote it, Greg Nicotero directed it, the cast knocked it out of the park — pretty much literally, you’ll see — and the crew pulled it all together, and it was a hell of a lot to pull together.”
‘The Walking Dead’ season 7B is expected to return on AMC on February 12, 2017 with episode 9, titled “Rock in the Road.”
