As is the case with other seasons, there are many speculations surrounding “The Walking Dead” Season 9. One of the major points of conversation is about how the shows main character, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), might not survive the season. However, the actor playing the character recently hinted that a departure might not necessarily mean a death. Andrew Lincoln also notes that “The Walking Dead” Season 9 feels like Season 1.
The actor provided the suggestion during a panel at the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con, in which he said that leaving the show doesn’t necessarily mean Rick Grimes will die, Screen Rant reports. In fact, he even brought up how Morgan (Lennie James) simply left to become part of “Fear The Walking Dead.” Rick could end up simply walking away after “The Walking Dead” Season 9.
Of course, the question of whether or not Andrew Lincoln is actually leaving the show after “The Walking Dead” Season 9 is no longer up in the air. The actor has been hinting for some time that he plans on making his exit because of how filming the show keeps him away from his family for long periods of time.
Naturally, the departure of Rick would cause reverberations throughout the show. Danai Gurira recently revealed how her character, Michonne, might look at this development while speaking to Entertainment Weekly. She said that there is simply no replacing Rick once he is gone in “The Walking Dead” Season 9.
For his part, Andrew Lincoln noted that shooting “The Walking Dead” Season 9 felt similar to how some of the pilot episodes were like. During the cast’s appearance at the 2018 SDCC, the panel was held at Hall H. In many ways, this was quite fitting since it’s also the same hall where the show was being promoted back in season 1.
When the actor saw the fans gathered there, it finally dawned on him that this was his final appearance. When “The Walking Dead” Season 9 finally airs on Oct. 7, it will undoubtedly be an emotionally charged time for the fans.
