“The Winds of Winter” is long overdue but still, fans are patiently waiting for its release. George R.R. Martin also recently gave hope to his millions of followers when he commented that he is working on the novel. The author also admitted that he is slow and everyone will agree with this self-assessment.
In September, Martin told The Hollywood Reporter, “I'm working on ‘The Winds of Winter,’ and I wish I'd been done four years ago, but I'm slow."
So far, George R.R. Martin has already released five of his planned seven books in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. While fans are wishing that he would complete all the books before “Game of Thrones” ends, this will not happen since HBO’s drama is already set to conclude next year.
Moreover, it is clear that “The Winds of Winter” is not arriving any time soon. But there is something that fans can do as they wait. Martin is releasing a book next month called “Fire and Blood.” This book is meant to be a companion to the “ASOIAF” series so readers can read this first prior to “TWOW” arrival.
“Fire and Blood” is like a flashback because it tells the history of Targaryens. It is set 300 years before the “Game of Thrones” saga.
According to Express, the book is already up on Amazon's listings and a few of its pages are displayed. The report states that the book contains detailed illustrations. The description of the book reads: “Centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones, House Targaryen – the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria – took up residence on Dragonstone.”
“The Winds of Winter” has no release date yet but everyone can head to bookstores on Nov. 20 for the launch of “Fire and Blood.”
