‘The Winds of Winter’ Release Date: George RR Martin Disappointed With ‘Game of Thrones’ Ending; Preview of ‘TWOW’ Chapters Released

George RR Martin

“The Winds of Winter” is indeed long overdue and in fact, “Game of Thrones,” the TV adaptation of George RR Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, has already caught up with the book, and it is now on its finale on HBO. The good thing is that the author relayed that he is now more focused on ‘TWOW’ and many are guessing that it will be completed any time now.

Now, in order to compensate for the missed due dates and the long wait, Martin published the excerpts from “The Winds of Winter.” This allowed fans to get a glimpse of what can be expected in the novel and so far, the 70-year-old author already released preview for at least nine chapters.

As can be seen in “The Winds of Winter” preview, the titles for the first nine chapters are Theon, Arriane (Arriane Martell), Victarion (Victarion Greyjoy), Barristan I (Barristan Selmy), Tyrion I (Tyrion Lannister), Barristan II, Tyrion II, Arya / “Mercy,” Sansa / “Alayne” and Aeron / “The Forsaken.” These nine chapters are confirmed and recently, the book cover for the sixth book of the “ASOIAF” series that features a white horn was also confirmed to be correct.

Meanwhile, GRRM is said to be disappointed with the ending of “Game of Thrones.” Express reported that the author is “sad” and prefers something else with regards to how the story should end. He shared that many storylines and characters in the book were presented differently on television and voiced out that he wished that the production could have done it the way he did in the books.

"Of course you have an emotional reaction. I mean, would I prefer they do it exactly the way I did it?” he said. “The series has been not completely faithful. Otherwise, it would have to run another five seasons. I’m a little sad, actually. I wish we had a few more seasons."

Finally, George RR Martin does not want to say when exactly “The Winds of Winter” is arriving in bookstores because he wants to avoid disappointing the fans from broken promises. But despite this, there are predictions that the novel is coming in 2020 or early 2021. Stay tuned for updates as we will publish it here once the exact dates are available.
