2019 has entered its last quarter, and we are ready to look down the barrel of a new decade. The current one brought us a plethora of changes in technology, including a game changing Artificial Intelligence and 3D printing, and in the upcoming decade, we assume that these would become more and more normalized.
That being said, we wanted to look exclusively at the printer industry, and what possible changes are present on the horizon. Therefore we created a small list that we wanted to focus on with the help of BlueDogInk, and decided that there are a few key issues that need to be discussed.
1. Enter AI
In the next few months, and across 2020, we would see the focus shift to adopting and leveraging AI across the industry. This would mean that the competitors across the industry start to look into the possibility of using voice recognition capabilities for smart printers and MFPs, and therefore, we can expect to see some further improvements in both of them. This would mark an exciting phase in the industry as players like HP and Xerox have already started laying out plans to expand their capabilities and others have started to work on introducing AI in their service models as well. Expect 2020 to be the game-changing time where people start to discuss the possibility even further.
2. Change in Inkjets
In order to ensure that the changes in demand are met by the latest trends, development of the printing capabilities of the Inkjet printers have started to take place. This, combined with the fact that these printers provide commercial print, packaging and label market services, add to the point that they could dominate the entire upcoming decade unless an entirely new technology comes up and changes the market altogether.
The best qualities about these printers are that they are cost-effective, deliver speed, and provide quality that the market needs to capitalize on this expansion trend and to grow their businesses. This lends to the credibility point, that multiple businesses can take to these printers to ensure that their expansion or business needs are fulfilled and establish these printers as the Numero Uno models of the entire printing industry.
3. Changes in how designs are conceived and perceived
We are way past the phase when people, clients and customers alike, used to like prints which had traditional elements with basic designs. With the minimalistic attributes gaining popularity, people now are firmly behind creating a simple, clear, and elegant look and feel instead of creating something that feels unnecessarily complicated and graphical in nature.
Now, people want an image that utilizes the white-space present on the design which is stylish and yet simply and can be easily grasped by normal public, and that means the images and the inks that are to be used would change as per the changing requirements as well.
These are some of the major changes that we foresee happening in the next few years with the printers, including 3D printing, and adoption of cloud. But for now, the printing industry needs to look closely at the changes that are already happening and get ready to evolve with those changes.
