‘Thor: Ragnarok’ actor Mark Ruffalo, who plays Hulk, teased Cate Blanchette’s villainous Hela during a recent interview. He could only describe her as pure “evil”. Karl Urban, who was cast to play new character Skurge, also expressed his excitement in joining the MCU.
According to Polygon, the upcoming film directed by Taika Waititi is set to feature the return of Ruffalo’s Hulk in a big way. Ruffalo teased that ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ will be like an adventure buddy film between his character and Chris Hemsworth’s titular prince of Asgard.
Ruffalo said, "It's an intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor… I think it will be smashing. You'll see a lot more Hulk… The Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk Hulks out. Hulk-ier and bigger." The two characters were apparently missing in action in the recently released ‘Captain America: Civil War’.
During an interview with ET, Ruffalo also talked about Blanchett’s villainous Hela, the goddess of death and ruler of Hel. He teased, "She plays the worst of the worst. So evil… She is going to kill us. It's such a great part she gets to play."
Blanchett’s queen of death is known for powers of illusion manipulation by altering her appearance to resemble someone else. In the original comic books, this was how she managed to lure Thor into Hel by pretending to be Sif. She is also able to project multiple versions of herself in battle through the power of replication.
Other members of the new film’s ensemble cast include Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, and Karl Urban as Skurge.
During an interview with IGN, Urban expressed his enthusiasm over playing Skurge in the MCU. He said “I read a fantastic script that was action-packed and full of great characters… When I heard who was involved -- and the cast list dropped yesterday -- and [saw] the opportunity to work with [director] Taika Waititi, who I think is one of the most brilliant directors coming through, I made the decision it was something that I wanted to be a part of. And the character is fantastic. He's got a great arc to him. Obviously I can't say too much about it…”
‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is an upcoming superhero film based on the Marvel comic books featuring Thor. It is helmed by Oscar-nominated director Taika Waititi and produced by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Victoria Alonso, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Thomas M. Hammel, Brad Winderbaum, and Stan Lee are executive producing.
Its predecessor, ‘Thor: The Dark World’ earned $664.6 million at the worldwide box office - $206.3 million coming from the domestic box office and $438.2 million coming from the international box office.
