Aside from waiting for the release date announcement for “To All the Boys I've Loved Before 2” fans are most interested in the arrival of John Ambrose McClaren (Jordan Burtchett). The character, who made a very brief appearance in the first movie, will be Lara Jean's (Lana Condor) next love interest.
“To All the Boys I've Loved Before 2” was officially announced by Netflix last December. While Noah Centineo's Peter is still part of the sequel, there is no doubt that John Ambrose will also be taking a major role. That is a perfect recipe for a juicy love triangle.

Lara Jean and John Ambrose actually had a connection as childhood sweethearts. In the books, he wanted to go to the formal with Lara Jean in eighth grade. But her father foiled her romantic gesture that involved flower arrangements in her backyard. Their romance fizzled because John Ambrose's family had to relocate. With a connection, this strong, fans can expect John Ambrose's arrival to cause a strain in the relationship of Lara Jean and Peter in “To All the Boys I've Loved Before 2.” But fans will have to wait and see if this will eventually lead to a breakup.
Jenny Han, who authored the same title book where the movie is based, told IndieWire that exploring the character of John Ambrose is the main point of writing her second book, “P.S. I Love You.” It will be the main resource material of “To All the Boys I've Loved Before 2.”
For a brief recap, John Ambrose is Lara Jean's biggest crush in fifth grade. Apparently, he also received a love letter and eventually came knocking on Lara's door in complete uniform, letter, and flowers in hand, and a beautiful smile on his face. This was inserted at the first movie's mid-credits scene and pretty much established what awaits in “To All the Boys I've Loved Before 2.”
There is no news yet on the sequel's production date. But there are speculations “To All the Boys I've Loved Before 2” might not premiere until late 2019 or early 2020.
