Mister Donut is offering a new tofu recipe product dubbed Agedashi Doughnuts.
Agedashi, which means “lightly deep fried,” is commonly associated with Agedashi Tofu, a popular fried tofu dish.
Agedashi Tofu is known for its salty sweet sticky sauce, which pairs beautifully with the thick fried batter that encases the soft tofu.
The doughnuts have the same gooey coating as agedashi tofu thanks to the potato starch.
Freshly grated daikon radish, aromatic green shiso, salty noodle broth, and hot shichimi all worked together to balance out the sweetness of the doughnut and move it more towards the savory end of the flavor spectrum.
