It looks like the Cleveland Cavaliers are ready to let go of most of their players in the wake of their post-Lebron James roster status. In a report from Cavaliers Nation, only Colin Sexton appears to be the only exception to a potential moving of every player on the roster.
The trades that are expected to happen come at a time after the team's weaknesses have been shown to the public after being shut down by the Golden State Warriors. It seems the current team had been more of a supporting cast to Lebron James during his time with his original team. This is also what has probably led to James declaring himself a free agent and joining the Los Angeles Lakers.
One of the more high-profile rumors about the Cavaliers is the possibility of trading Tristan Thompson and Kyle Korver to Miami Heat for Hassan Whiteside. The specific reason for the potential trade is that the Cavaliers want Whiteside's team-carrying potential compared to Tristan Thompson's one-dimensional ball play. Trading the 15-year veteran Korver along with Thompson is just icing on the cake for Miami Heat.
While it seems that Whiteside is too valuable a trade for the Miami Heat, thus the potential double trade from the Cavaliers, there is a possibility that the Cavaliers don't need to do a double trade considering Whiteside's rocky history that may affect his trade value. Aside from what can be described as a “no can do” attitude, Whiteside has also historically clamored for more time on the court. In addition, Whiteside's performance has had a lot of ups and downs, the inconsistency of which hurts his team's chances should he get more court time.
Considering the issues of the Heat with Whiteside, it is actually a wonder if trading Tristan Thompson and Kyle Korver is a good thing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Should the trade push through, fans will see how Cleveland will potentially be shaping up the young Whiteside for the 2018-2019 season.
