The mid-August short interest represents 4.42 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 5.14 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 851 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 935,638,525 shares at the end of the settlement date of August 15, 2017 compared with 902,474,679 shares in 840 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.94 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.63.
In summary, short interest in all 3,203 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,300,854,157 shares at the August 15, 2017 settlement date, compared with 3,169 issues and 8,183,923,319 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.18 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.65 days for the previous reporting period.
