Leaking information on unannounced video games is a common occurrence within the gaming industry. Recently, Ubisoft experienced this reality firsthand, but it had quite an epic response to it — by matching it with an official announcement.

On Thursday evening, Ubisoft released a brief but straightforward announcement confirming that this year’s “Assassin’s Creed” installment is called “Odyssey.” However, fans should not expect more from it since Ubisoft’s social media post contains only a five-second video, but with a reassuring message that says, “See you at [Electronics Entertainment Expo]!”

So right now, fans just have to wait about two weeks before they get to know more gameplay details about the upcoming “Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.”

However, the previous leak that was first spotted by Kotaku tells several other details, and the upcoming game’s title is also quite telling. According to the report, the publication was able to talk to three people who have tried the game firsthand and others who held secondhand information. They were all telling the same thing: the game will be set in Greece.

And anyone who has encountered Greek mythology at some point in their student life will easily see the link between the word “Odyssey” and Greece.

Kotaku’s sources added that players will have more options in directing the dialogue of the playable and non-playable characters in “Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.” The action-adventure franchise is well-known for its comprehensive story; however, all dialogues in previous games are the same. So, if this rumor about this gameplay feature is true, this is going to be a first for the franchise.

Additionally, Ubisoft is rumored to have added an option for players that allows them to play as a male or female character.

If all these pieces of information prove anything, it is the fact that Ubisoft again did not take a long break before releasing a new “Assassin’s Creed” installment. It can be recalled that the company took a year off in expanding the franchise and introduced the latest addition, “Assassin’s Creed: Origins,” in 2017.

Ubisoft’s E3 press event happens on June 11.
