‘Vikings’ season 4 may be on its mid-season break but the second half is expected to roll out later in the year. History Channel’s highly popular historical television series is speculated to premiere in July.
Season 4 is currently on hiatus and is expected to premiere the second half of the season sometime later this year. According to an article on Den of Geek, History Channel added four extra episodes from its original 16-episode run, allowing for a mid-season finale.
The network’s popular television show is speculated to resume with episode 11 right after HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 wraps up – sometime in July this year. No official return date has been announced as of the present, however.
Another article on Movie News Guide reported that ‘Vikings’ will return sometime in the fall this year, coinciding with the show’s usual late February premiere. The second half of the season will focus on King Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his children, who have all grown up to become warriors in their own right. His sons have already been primed to take over the throne should they prove themselves worthy enough to overtake their father.
It was speculated that his eldest son, Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig), with Viking shieldmaiden wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) will inherit the throne but other rumors suggested that his youngest son, Ivar the Boneless (James Quinn Markey) will prove more worthy.
In episode 10, entitled “The Last Ship”, Ragnar challenged his rebellious sons and others from Kattegat to kill him and become the new king after the Vikings failed in their conquest for Paris. The mid-season finale also followed Ragnar and his warriors engaged in a ferocious battle against his brother Rollo (Clive Standen) – the latter managing to claim victory in the end.
‘Vikings’ is also renewed for season 5 and is currently holding casting calls for extras. The series is inspired by the sagas of the legendary Norse hero Ragnar Lothbrok, who was notorious for his scourge of England and France.
