As expected, Apple’s next event of the year is going to be the Worldwide Developers Conference. It is also going to be the first time since the pandemic that the company will host in-person activities, albeit in a limited capacity.
Apple announced the first details for the next WWDC and confirmed it would take place from June 6 through 10. The company is still not going to the same pre-pandemic setup, but there will be significant changes in this year’s event. Apple confirmed that it would welcome developers and students to the Apple Park in Cupertino, California, on WWDC 2022 opening day to watch the keynote address and the Platforms State of the Union live.
However, the in-person attendance will still be limited, considering there is still a pandemic. Apple did not say how many people will be allowed to the Apple Park for WWDC. “Details about how to apply to attend will be provided on the Apple Developer site and app soon,” the company said.
While the kickoff events will be opened to a limited audience, the rest of the WWDC events will still happen online. In previous years, Apple has broadcast its events on its official YouTube channel, website, and the Apple TV app for free. To many developers and Apple fans, these channels will likely be the only option to follow this year’s WWDC.
“In addition to the announcements shared from the keynote and State of the Union presentations, this year’s program will also include more information sessions, more cutting-edge learning labs, more digital lounges to engage with attendees, and more localized content to make WWDC22 a truly global event,” Apple added.
The annual WWDC is where Apple unveils the upcoming features and updates for its software products, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. Details about these updates are still under wraps, but there are huge expectations for iOS 16, considering Apple is rumored to launch an AR/VR headset later this year. And WWDC seems to be the most fitting Apple event to reveal some information on this upcoming technology.
