The BlackBerry KEY2 smartphone is a few moments away from its official reveal. Pieces of information pertaining to the device as well as preview photos of it have been leaking to the internet in the past few weeks, and here are the details so far.

One of the possible design features of the BlackBerry KEY2 indicates that its maker, TCL, is devoted to the appearance that the predecessor, the KEYone, had. Android Central noted that one of the exciting details about the upcoming BlackBerry KEY2 is the fact that it will not join the “notch” bandwagon.

A lot of Android devices obviously maximized the hype around Apple’s iPhone X design that features an edge-to-edge screen and a notch that houses all the front sensors. Based on supposed BlackBerry KEY2 photos leaked recently by notable reporters like Evan Blass, the upcoming device from TCL will sport a wide bodywork and a notch-less screen.

Apart from a sneak preview of BlackBerry KEY2’s design, Blass also shared the full specs sheet of the device in a Twitter post on Wednesday. While the upcoming smartphone has a relatively smaller screen at 4.5 inches, the leaked information indicates that it features a high resolution of 1,620 x 1,080 with a 434-pixel density.

To many BlackBerry lovers’ delight, the KEY2 is expected to sport a physical QWERTY keyboard like the KEYone. The phone’s fingerprint scanner is reportedly embedded in the space bar.

Meanwhile, a huge bump in memory is also expected on the BlackBerry KEY2. Compared to KEYone’s choices of 3GB and 4GB RAM, the upcoming smartphone will reportedly have a standard 6GB RAM and an internal storage option between 64GB and 128GB.

As for the software aspect of the BlackBerry KEY2, it is expected to natively run Android 8.1 Oreo and support Google Assistant. Other core specs reportedly include a 3,500-mAh battery and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 clocked at 2.2 GHz.

With better specs comes a higher price. According to reports, the BlackBerry KEY2 will cost $649 in the United States, which is $100 more expensive than the KEYone.

The BlackBerry KEY2 is expected to be revealed on Thursday, June 7.
