NEW YORK, Oct. 16, 2017 -- WisdomTree (NASDAQ:WETF), an exchange-traded fund (“ETF”) and exchange-traded product (“ETP”) sponsor and asset manager, today announced that 72 of its U.S.-listed ETFs will be added to TD Ameritrade’s expanded commission-free ETF trading platform, effective tomorrow.
TD Ameritrade’s commission-free ETF program will provide registered investment advisor (RIA) and individual investor clients access to nearly 300 non-proprietary ETFs.
Kurt MacAlpine, WisdomTree Head of Global Distribution, said, “WisdomTree is very excited to be collaborating with TD Ameritrade on its new commission-free ETF program in such a prominent capacity. TD Ameritrade has continued to position itself as a market leader and industry disruptor delivering a robust client experience for independent advisors and retail investors. We are thrilled to be deepening our relationship with TD Ameritrade and its clients through this new program.”
Effective October 17th, investors using the TD Ameritrade platform will be able to purchase 72 of WisdomTree’s 87 ETFs without incurring the costs of trading commission fees. This commission-free access spans asset classes including equities, fixed income and alternatives, and includes a variety of investment categories in which WisdomTree is a smart beta ETF provider.
MacAlpine added, “We recognize the importance of offering lower cost investment options to investors. The breadth of WisdomTree smart beta ETFs included in this new program provides advisors and retail investors with the necessary building blocks to construct entire portfolios on the TD Ameritrade platform without incurring trading costs.”
Jim Dario, managing director of product management for TD Ameritrade Institutional, said, “We are excited to include WisdomTree as a provider in our expanded and enhanced commission-free ETF program. We believe our clients will benefit from the proprietary strategies they are delivering across asset classes, offering more ways for investors and advisers to express their market views.”

ETFs are subject to risk similar to those of their underlying securities, including, but not limited to, market, investment, sector, or industry risks, and those regarding short-selling and margin account maintenance. Some ETFs may involve international risk, currency risk, commodity risk, leverage risk, credit risk, and interest rate risk. Performance may be affected by risks associated with non-diversification, including investments in specific countries or sectors. Additional risks may also include, but are not limited to, investments in foreign securities, especially emerging markets, real estate investment trusts (REITs), fixed income, small-capitalization securities, and commodities. Each individual investor should consider these risks carefully before investing in a particular security or strategy. Investment returns will fluctuate and are subject to market volatility, so that an investor’s shares, when redeemed or sold, may be worth more or less than their original cost. Unlike mutual funds, shares of ETFs are not individually redeemable directly with the ETF. Shares are bought and sold at market price, which may be higher or lower than the net asset value (NAV).
TD Ameritrade receives remuneration from certain ETFs (exchange-traded funds) and/or ETF sponsors that participate in the commission-free ETF program for shareholder, administrative and/or other services.
