Several countries are at odds with each other, sparking fears of a possible World War 3 in our midst. As reports of China increasing its military expenses surface, many defense experts have now urged NATO to take action.
Express reports defense officials in the United Kingdom have now urged NATO to take proper action in diffusing the tensions several countries have with China. The experts wrote that China continues to pose a threat especially as it begins to attempt expanding its power and influence towards the West and its actions towards Hong Kong. Experts are now calling for the organization to develop a proper policy towards China in order to keep the peace and tensions under control.
“It is clear that President Xi Jinping remains committed to the modernization of the People’s Liberation Army by 2035 and transformation into a “world-class military by 2049. Recent events demonstrate the determination China has to bring Hong Kong under its firm grip, raising grave concerns for its future as well as that of Taiwan,” wrote the experts in the paper that was published.
The experts also noted that with China’s continuous disputes with Japan as well as its conflicts with India, the communist nation appears determined to claim the Himalayas and the South China Sea as its territory. 20 border soldiers from India were killed by Chinese soldiers in a hand-to-hand clash. They have also noted China’s attempt to try and lay claim to the Arctic region by making a “polar silk road” along with a “5+1” group with Scandinavian countries.
NATO leaders have previously addressed China’s expansion attempts back in December 2019, and have expressed agreement in developing a policy towards China that could help prevent any further conflict or a possible World War 3.
More on China’s conflicts with India, China was recently found to have deployed warplanes on the far west part of India. Satellite images found six H-6 bomber planes at Kashgar airport. Chinese J-16 fighter airplanes were also found on its tarmac.
Following the previous news of Chinese soldiers having killed 20 Indian troops at the border, many Indian citizens were outraged and burned many Chinese products in retaliation.
