Fans are now entering the much-awaited weekend, BlizzCon 2019. Thanks to several leaked information recently, Blizzard fans are now anticipating that one of the big announcements in the conference is related to the next “World of Warcraft” expansion.
'World of Warcraft' leaks: Next expansion revealed ahead of BlizzCon?
Since BlizzCon is practically Blizzard’s own E3, video game fans are not wrong to expect major announcements from the developer whenever the event takes place. For this year, however, several leaks online likely gave fans the idea of what Blizzard has in store for “World of Warcraft.” After a couple of BlizzCon 2019 merch were leaked online, many now believe that the next “World of Warcraft” expansion could be titled “Shadowlands.”
The rumors of “World of Warcraft” having a new expansion soon was sparked by a couple of screenshots reportedly taken from Blizzard’s Gear Store. One of the images is showing a banner for the title “World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.” It is followed by teasers that could be suggesting the next expansion is situated in the Shadowlands, which is practically the game’s version of the land of the dead.
In smaller texts, the leaked screenshot reads, “Explore the glorious land of Bastion!” This is where the debates start. Some fans have associated “Bastion” to the same name character robot from “Overwatch” - a game also developed by Blizzard.

However, other fans rebuke the idea that the leaked image is hinting at some sort of a “World of Warcraft” and “Overwatch” crossover. This side of the fence argues that people should be looking at the bigger picture (literally) and other clues from developers. Overall, fans should take the leaked images with a pinch of salt until Blizzard makes the necessary announcement this weekend if there is any.
'World of Warcraft' at BlizzCon 2019: What to expect?
“World of Warcraft” remains one of the biggest franchises owned by Blizzard, so it would be hard to celebrate BlizzCon 2019 without any major announcement for this title. A new expansion that would follow the well-received “Battle for Azeroth” would be fitting.
However, Blizzard might also announce something else that could be related to “World of Warcraft: Classic.” It can be recalled that the game’s phase 2 was previously confirmed to go live before the end of the year.
