The Melanie Scrofano-led fantasy series had a summertime release date in the past couple of years. Unfortunately, all bits of information at present indicate that it will not be the case for “Wynonna Earp” season 4. Does this mean the show has been ultimately canceled?
First off, fans have no reason to worry for now because Syfy has officially ordered “Wynonna Earp” season 4 from its production company IDW Entertainment. Back in February, there was some confusion and fans got concerned when showrunner Emily Andras asked in a now-deleted tweet (via ComicBook) if the viewers were willing to fight for the show's existence.
It naturally made fans worry that “Wynonna Earp” season 4 will not happen, so they turned their attention to Syfy. The cable channel company immediately appeased fans and said in a statement to Deadline that its “commitment” to the series has not changed and along with the confirmation that it has ordered the fourth season.
The same report then claimed that IDW Entertainment has purportedly been facing “financial difficulties” and “running a deficit.” Deadline added that these reasons are what have been avoiding the studio to push through with the filming of “Wynonna Earp” season 4. This means that the ball is in IDW’s court.
In response to Deadline’s report, IDW assured fans that “Wynonna Earp” season 4 is in the pipeline, but its statement did not address the reports of not having enough budget to start filming. But the company promised, “We are in the process of working out the details for how the Wynonna story will continue and will share new details very soon.”
I don’t know anything, unfortunately. All we know is we aren’t shooting right now and don’t know why

Earlier this year, Scrofano also confirmed that the cast had not been called back in yet on set. Since then, no news has surfaced to indicate that “Wynonna Earp” season 4 has started filming. In the past, it took roughly six to seven months for the earlier seasons from the first day of filming and through its official premiere.
