Microsoft’s partnership with EA is bringing another all-new game to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate next month. The upcoming action title “Knockout City” is confirmed to be available on its launch day for the top-tier plan via EA Play.
‘Knockout City’ gets launch-day availability on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
It has only been a few months since EA Play was added to the exclusive perks for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. As expected, it has led to free launch-day access to anticipated EA-published games, which will soon include “Knockout City.”
EA announced on Monday that “Knockout City” will be added to the EA Play library as soon as it launches on May 21. That means the game will also be available through the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier on day one without additional cost on both platforms.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives its members access to PC and console games, as well as Android devices via cloud gaming. This means they will also be able to play “Knockout City” on different platforms since it is launching on Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility. The game will also be available on PS4 and PS5.
Through EA Play, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will have other advantages aside from having unlimited access to the full gameplay of “Knockout City.” Xbox noted in a blog post that some special events are already in the works and will go live in the first few weeks after the game’s launch.
‘Knockout City’ gameplay: What to expect
To those who are only hearing about “Knockout City” now, it is often described as a “dodgebrawl” as the main weapons used are balls thrown at enemies very much like the classic game of dodgeball. But the video game setting offers an entirely new take, mainly because of the maps included in the game.
The array of balls that can be used in “Knockout City” are also nothing like the classic dodgeball. Some of them will explode (Bomb Ball) and even trap (Cage Ball) the enemies once they are hit. The game also boasts quite an expansive assortment of playlists, including Face-Off for solo matches, KO Chaos for a free-for-all mode, a private match, and multiplayer options Team KO (3v3), Diamond Dash (3v3), and Ball-Up Brawl (4v4).
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is available for $14.99 a month and requires no extra fee for the EA Play services. Meanwhile, a standalone purchase of “Knockout City” will cost $19.99.
