Dallas Rogers

Urban Studies Researcher: Institute for Culture and Society & Urban Research Program, Western Sydney University

Dr Dallas Rogers is a research member of the Institute for Culture and Society, and lectures into the Urban Research Program at Western Sydney University. He has expertise in urban infrastructure and housing poverty and wealth. Dallas has published numerous articles on these themes and two books: a monograph on 'The Geopolitics of Real Estate: Reconfiguring Property, Capital and Rights'; and the edited volume 'Housing In 21st Century Australia: People, Practices And Policies'. He has completed research projects for state and local governments, the private sector and non-government housing mangers.

Dallas studied radio production at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS), and is a regular commentator on housing and urban policy. He has appeared in local and international media, provided expert advice to government in Australia and Canada, and is regularly invited to speak at industry and professional forums. Dallas’ current research interests focus on:

(1) Housing poverty and wealth in global cities;
(2) Foreign investment and the changing nature of Asian-Australian economic, technology and cultural relations; and
(3) The intersection between democracy, private sector development and state intervention, particularly in the areas of housing and urban infrastructure.
