PhD Candidate in the School of Social Policy, University of Birmingham Abby Gilsenan is currently a fourth year PhD student in the School of Social Policy at the University of Birmingham. Her research is focused on the impact of statutory sex education in Catholic secondary schools on the lives and experiences of young women. She is particularly interested in the way youth sexuality is problematised and understood within policy contexts, and the ways we can centre young peoples’ voices within research. Her work draws on feminist sociological work, education policy and youth studies.
