PhD candidate, CQUniversity Australia Karen Luke is a PhD candidate researching the relationship between horse welfare and rider safety. She has expertise in ridden horse behaviour, ridden horse welfare and human behaviour change. Her research has shown that rider safety can be improved through improving horse welfare. She has also developed a novel approach to horse welfare and training based on systems thinking. Karen works on education and horse welfare policy with organisations such as Pony Club Australia.
