Just recently, Apple released the latest mobile update, iOS 12. It is now available for iPhone (for $999 at Sprint), iPad ($329 at Walmart), and iPod Touch. For iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max owners, you can get it at Amazon Marketplace for $1,284, and it comes pre-installed.
The company also released iOS 12.1 through its beta program. This update brings back Group FaceTime. If you want to get this feature, you need to sign up here.
Some of the features included in iOS 12 is a new Memoji feature, improved handling of notifications, a revamped Do Not Disturb feature and a Measure app. Apple also added new parental controls in this update.
iOS 12 is probably a must-have update. If you are concerned about the security of your phone, the new update features focus more on security and privacy.
iOS has a USB restricted mode. This new mode will stop USB devices like headphones or USB cables from being plugged into a phone. If turning on this feature, it discourages police or hackers from being able to bypass your lock screen, and they can't access information in your phone.
iOS 12 allows you to create longer passcodes. In this update, you are allowed to choose between a 4-digit numeric code, a custom numeric code or a custom alphanumeric code. This makes your passcode difficult to guess for other people.
If you want to control what gets auto-filled, go to Settings > Safari > AutoFill. You can see the current information is saved and edit anything you don’t want Safari to autofill.
iOS 12's password manager now allows you to take an audit of your passwords. This feature shows you how frequently you use the same password for multiple websites.
To use this feature, simply go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Website & App Passwords and enter your passcode when prompted. You can now check your login credentials for the sites you visit. You may see a warning symbol next to any password that is used multiple times.
