Apple has invited virtually everyone around the world for the much-awaited iPhone 12 announcement event. Unlike in the previous years, the anticipated occasion is happening in October this year, and here are some of the best announcements to expect from it.
All iPhone 12 models have OLED and 5G
There is no doubt in many fans’ minds that the star of the October event, which Apple calls “Hi, Speed,” will be the iPhone 12 lineup. Since the series was first reported, reputable analysts and other sources have maintained that it will mark a new era for Apple’s smartphone lineup for two main reasons.
First, all devices to be launched under the iPhone 12 banner will sport OLED displays that used to be exclusive to higher-tier iPhones since Apple started using it. Many also did not expect Apple to switch to 5G network this early, but it is widely believed it is just what they have planned for 2020 and they will apply this major change on all iPhone 12 models.
The first ‘mini’-branded iPhone?
One of the more recent iPhone 12 rumors indicate that the smallest model with 5.4” inch would be called the “iPhone 12 mini.” Various known leakers have either mentioned or presented some proof that suggests the “mini” branding will be used for the iPhone lineup for the first time this year.
The strategy would make sense considering the gap in screen sizes between the 5.4” model and the other iPhone 12 variants. The remaining three devices are expected to be the 6.1” iPhone 12, 6.1” iPhone 12 Pro, and the 6.7” iPhone 12 Pro Max.
iPhone 12 Pro ditches 64GB storage options
Leaker Jon Prosser recently tweeted the list of iPhone 12 storage options, and those who were not a fan of the lack of a 128GB variant for Pro models will like it. Last year, for some reason, Apple launched the iPhone 11 Pro/Pro Max starting with 64GB and then jumping to 256GB.
Don’t worry — iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max start at 128GB ????

Prosser reports the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will start at 128GB while the non-Pro models would be released with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options.
The A14 Bionic chip
The core of every iPhone launches is the new Bionic processing chip introduced with the smartphone. For the iPhone 12 series, Apple is expected to announce the A14 Bionic built to support 5G connectivity. The October event’s title is likely a reference to the mobile network speed made possible by this upgrade, but it would be remiss not to expect more improvements in terms of processing speed from the upcoming iPhones.
There are more devices other than iPhone 12
Lastly, it is worth noting that while iPhone 12 is very likely the main attraction of the “Hi,Speed” event on Oct. 13, Apple is widely reported to announce a few more devices before the end of the year. New Mac computers might be reserved for its own event at a different time, but Apple could announce its new smartphones with new devices that would complement it such as the rumored Apple AirTags trackers, the new AirPods Studio, or event the mini HomePod.
