There have been many speculations regarding the marriage of twice-impeached former President Donald Trump and former first lady Melania Trump even after they left the White House. The upcoming book by Mrs. Trump’s chief of staff Stephanie Grisham revealed that the now-former first lady was angrier about getting humiliated in front of the media than her husband’s affair with Stormy Daniels.
Grisham, who was Mrs. Trump’s chief of staff until shortly after the Capitol insurrection on January 6, revealed in her book, “I’ll Take Your Questions Now,” that the infamous affair Trump had with Daniels did not anger her as much as being subject to humiliation from the press regarding the news. Grisham, who also served as the White House Press Secretary despite never having held a press briefing during her tenure, also recalled what Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen said to Mrs. Trump at the time to convince her that the affair was not true.
Grisham admitted that her perception of what the former first lady at the time felt may be wrong, especially as she noted that Mrs. Trump had a feeling that the news was true. While it might have been that Mrs. Trump was more upset about the humiliation in the press than the affair with Daniels, it changed when the news broke out that her husband had another affair, with Karen McDougal.
“After that, she finally seemed to be genuinely angry with her husband and no longer hid it,” wrote Grisham, who recalled being at the Trumps’ Mar-a-Lago resort when McDougal appeared on CNN to be interviewed by Anderson Cooper. When Mrs. Trump texted Grisham how the interview went, and Grisham replied that it seemed like McDougal was nice and remorseful, Mrs. Trump replied with the eye-roll emoji.
Another story that Grisham revealed in her new book was that the Trump family did not seem to understand what the role of the White House Press Secretary was and why they are unable to control the media outlets. Grisham explained that they thought the job of a Press Secretary was similar to that of a publicist, with the role of putting out positive stories in the media the way Hollywood would work. Mrs. Trump did not understand why Grisham was not turning in puff pieces in media outlets like People or Page Six.
