Former first lady Michelle Obama has always stressed the importance of voting, especially for the upcoming elections in November, co-chairing a nonpartisan organization called When We All Vote. To help in benefiting the cause, the cast of The West Wing will be reuniting for a special presentation.

CNN reports that the cast of The West Wing - Rob Lowe, Bradley Whitford, Alison Janney, Dule Hill, Janel Moloney, and Martin Sheen - will all be reprising their roles from the show in a special theatrical presentation for HBO’s streaming service HBO Max. This is the latest show to join a few tv reunions for a cause, including Parks & Recreation and 30 Rock.

The cast, including its creator Aaron Sorkin, will be staging one of the show’s episodes, “Hartsfield’s Landing” that originally aired back in 2002. The episode focused on the relations between the US and China and its tensions over Taiwan as Whitford’s character Josh, worries about the New Hampshire primary. Sorkin will also be writing additional material for the special presentation. It will also be directed by Thomas Schlamme, who was responsible for the show’s walk and talk style.

They will film this presentation in October in Los Angeles and will also feature some guest appearances and a message from Michelle. The reunion will be benefiting Michelle’s nonpartisan organization When We All Vote, which aims to get eligible Americans to register to vote.

There has yet to be a set date as to when the special will air, but it will most likely air before the elections.

Meanwhile, the former first lady recently participated in the virtual Black Girls Lead conference where she shared how Black girls can become effective leaders. The conference, organized by Black Girls Rock, aims to empower young Black girls from 13 to 18 years old.

“Some folks are going to try and tell you that you have to feel a certain way or act a certain way, or maybe they’ll tell you that if you speak up you’re too loud or if you lead you’re being too bossy, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth,” said Michelle. “We need all of you, exactly as you are. We need your voice out there calling for change. We need your thoughts and ideas.”
