The fifth season of “Rick and Morty” has been renewed a long time ago. This happened when season 4 was renewed and Adult Swim ordered a total of 70 episodes all at once.

The renewal was in 2018 so it means that Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland already know for two years that they will be making “Rick and Morty” season 5 and the succeeding seasons beyond this. If the team has been offering 10 episodes per season, then fans can expect five more installments once the fifth aired.

With the advance order, fans are expecting that the release of the episodes would be swift. Unlike before where it is taking years for a whole season to premiere, everyone is expecting a much shorter waiting time and both show creators Dan and Justin agree. In fact, they acknowledged that the advance orders will speed up their work.

Cast - Who will be in season 5?

“Rick and Morty” season 5 will surely return with the same set of cast members. This means that the Smith family consisting of Chris Parnell (Jerry), Sarah Chalke (Beth), Spencer Grammer (Summer) and Justin Roiland as Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith are returning to reprise their roles.

They have been the same case since the beginning but fans can expect few additions when “Rick and Morty” season 5 feature some guests in the episodes. In the last installment, the viewers saw Taika Waititi, Sam Neil and even Elon Musk.

Big names could come in the show especially now that the show creators mentioned about a possible crossover with Bojack the Horseman. Perhaps, Kanye West will finally appear too.

Spoilers - What to expect

Spencer Grammer who plays Summer as well as Chris Parnell had interviews where they talked about “Rick and Morty” season 5. During the discussions, both actors dropped hints about what to expect in the next installment.

“I do always want to see Summer become more evil and sociopathic and more narcissistic for sure,” Spencer told Games Radar. “I think that makes her really, really interesting. I also really like for Rick to give her more responsibility in the context of him being able to pull things over in the family.”

On the other hand, Chirs said that his character may explore like Rick and Morty. It is possible; he would also travel to other dimensions.

“There’s a lot of room to explore Jerry’s competence because we haven’t seen a lot of that,” the actor stated. “So, I think it’d be fun to see Jerry really excelling and succeeding and doing well, even if it’s a particular dimension that’s obviously an abnormality compared to the one we live in.”

Meanwhile, there is a theory that Evil Morty is coming back and this is on top of the appearance of Rick’s arch-enemy who identified himself as Mr. Nimbus. He lives in a giant shell in the ocean.
