It took a very long time for “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 to be announced. With that and the likelihood that the second season will have a shorter run, fans might soon be asking the same question of whether or not the series would be renewed.
‘The Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 could dictate the show’s long-term renewal
The franchise that started from the same title light novel series by Tsutomu Sato has maintained its popularity over the years. However, it is still quite a puzzle why it took years before “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was ordered.
The good news now is the anime series is confirmed to continue, but it is safe to say that the support “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 would get once it goes on the air could dictate its future. One of the interesting aspects of the series renewal is that it will be based on much fewer light novel volumes. The next season can have around 12 to 13 episodes only compared to season 1, which had a 26-episode run.
This decision is understandable, though, since the series has been idle for more than half a decade. “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2’s TV broadcast and streaming turnouts are some of the biggest aspects to consider as well as its DVD/Blu-ray copies that could be released later. Fortunately, the anime adaptation has more than enough light novel materials to permit the anime’s continuation beyond a second season.
“The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will be based on the Visitor Arc that is covered in volumes 9 to 11 of the light novel series. It would not be surprising if the next episodes will also cover some parts of the preceding story arc to introduce the next main conflict that Tatsuya will face due to his matter detonation ability.
‘The Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 release date
If the world did not have to tackle a pandemic this year, “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 would have been slated to premiere next month. However, producers had to take safety precautions leading to the suspension of the production in April. Since then, it has been announced that the new episodes will arrive in October.
