‘The Winds of Winter’: George RR Martin focused on completing ‘TWOW’ to publish the book for real this time

“The Winds of Winter” was not delivered on its supposed deadline in July. It was George RR Martin who gave the due date for himself in 2019 but yet he still failed to fulfill this promise.

Martin failed to release “TWOW” once again

It can be recalled that the 71-year-old author even gave his fans permission to lock him up in a cabin if the book will not be finished in time for the WorldCon. This convention was originally scheduled from July 29 to Aug. 2 but due to COVID-19, it was canceled.

But then again, while the event did not push through, it does not mean that GRRM ould also cancel his promise. This is why many were disappointed once again when “The Winds of Winter” was nowhere to be found and August is already ending.

The fifth book in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series titled “A Dance with Dragons” was published in 2011 and the sixth book which is “TWOW” was expected to follow at least two years after but Martin keeps missing his deadlines and it has now been nine years since the last book in the “ASOIAF” series came out.

Apparently, the book is still in the works and Martin admitted that he still has a long way to go. It seems that he has been adding chapters so “The Winds of Winter” is getting longer.

Martin to focus on “The Winds of Winter”

In his latest update, Martin said that he will be focusing on “TWOW” because he wants it done soon as well. And there is no need for fans to step up and tell him to go up the mountains to finish the book because the author already did this a few months ago.

He revealed he is already in a cabin and has nothing to do but write so he is really hoping that he could complete and finally publish the much-awaited and long-delayed novel. GRRM added that he has been making steady progress and finishes at least one chapter in a few days.

“The last thing I need right now is a long interruption that might cost me all the momentum I have built up,” he wrote. “I can always visit Wellington (NZ) next year when I hope that both Covid-19 and THE WINDS OF WINTER will be done.”

Finally, with his renewed focus everyone wishes that George RR Martin’s next announcement would be the release date of “The Winds of Winter.”
