Global beverage giant AB InBev is investing €31 million to upgrade technology at its Belgian breweries, bolstering the company's non-alcoholic beer portfolio. The significant funding will enhance bottling processes and optimize a new de-alcoholizing system for producing the Corona Cero, reflecting a rise in demand for non-alcoholic options. With over 2,000 employees across the Flemish-Brabant region, AB InBev is leading the charge in brewing innovation.
The demand for non-alcoholic beers is rapidly growing worldwide, giving consumers more choices for moderation and responsible consumption. Recognizing this trend, AB InBev offers a diverse portfolio of 30 brands across 42 countries. In recent years, the company has invested heavily in brewing innovations to craft exceptional no-alcohol beers.
The recent €31 million technology upgrade at the Belgian breweries marks a significant advancement in their no- and low-alcohol brewing capabilities, further reinforcing their commitment. Corona Cero, a version of the classic Mexican lager launched in 10 European markets last year, is a key player in AB InBev's no-alcohol beer collection. Boasting 0.0% ABV, Corona Cero retains the beloved taste of Corona while utilizing 100% natural ingredients.
AB InBev offers seven non-alcoholic beers brewed in Belgium, including options from local brands like Hoegaarden and Leffe. The brewing techniques behind these products are largely developed at AB InBev's Global Innovation and Technology Center (GITEC) in Leuven, Belgium.
David De Schutter, the Global VP of GITEC, affirms that their brewers and researchers are at the forefront of creating refreshing, outstanding-tasting, no-alcohol beers for people to savor on any occasion. Moreover, AB InBev continues its dedication to innovation by introducing Corona Sunbrew 0.0%, the "world's first" non-alcoholic beer fortified with vitamin D. Each 330ml bottle contains 30% of the daily recommended vitamin D intake and only 60 calories.
This substantial investment signifies AB InBev's commitment to advancing the world of non-alcoholic beers, catering to consumers' evolving preferences for smart drinking.
